Dog-friendly Snow Hikes Near Tacoma
I adore snowy photography sessions, and get so excited every time a client wants to meet me in the mountains for a snowy winter background! The magic of snow in the PNW can’t be beat. The dark and lush evergreens, the bright and fluffy snow, towering mountains standing stoic behind your pup? WHAT. A. DREAM.
There are a few lovely snow hikes that are perfect for dogs near Tacoma, all of which happen to be perfect for pet photography sessions! Want some of my favorites? Here you go:
Franklin Falls (a classic!), 7 miles RT, 400 ft elevation gain (Note: This trail is only 2 miles RT in the summer)
Gold Creek Pond, 2.8 miles RT, 50 ft elevation gain (take the trail to Alaska Lake for more mileage)
Annette Lake, 7.5 miles RT, 1,800 ft elevation gain
Rachel Lake, 7 miles RT, 2,200 ft elevation gain
Lake Easton State Park, up to 5 miles of snowshoe trails (note: dogs are not allowed on groomed ski trails)
