Oscar + Lucas | Rattlesnake Lake Sunset Portraits

Sunset Pet Portraits Near Tacoma

Whether you’ve got a goofy Great Dane, a shy senior cat, or a wild pack of doodles, every pet deserves their time to shine in front of the camera—and I’m here to make it fun, stress-free, and full of treats. (Seriously, I bring like at least 4 options)

Most people are surprised at how relaxed and playful pet photography sessions really are. There’s no pressure for your dog to sit perfectly still or stare directly into the camera. Yes, we love when they post for us, but the joy of pets is in their playfulness, their personality, and their chaos! Instead of forcing them to do something, I follow your pet’s lead. We let them explore, play, cuddle, and just be themselves—because that’s when the magic happens.

In a recent Rattlesnake Lake session, I met Oscar and Lucas, two scruffy senior boys with a love for snacks and chasing squeaky balls. We explored one of my favorite dog-friendly spots near-ish Tacoma—Rattlesnake Lake—where the lighting was perfect and Oscar and Lucas were in their element. Their final gallery was packed with personality: ears flying mid-run, mud on their paws, and the sweetest looks they gave their human (even when snacks weren’t involved!). I love this spot so much especially in the winter and early spring because of the huge stumps that are unearthed during low water levels. It makes for fun sniffs and cool photos!

Why Book a Professional Pet Photographer in Tacoma?

There are lots of reasons to invest in professional pet photography, but the most important one is this: your pet is family. Whether you’ve got a brand-new puppy or a powdered sugar-faced companion who’s been with you for years, professional portraits help you remember the way they are right now—goofy habits, slobbery smiles, soulful eyes, and all.

Working with a Tacoma-based pet photographer means I know the best local spots, the prettiest views, and how to get your pet comfortable fast (yes, even the nervous ones). Every session is customized to your pet’s personality, energy level, and needs.

If you’re thinking about doing a photoshoot with your senior dog—do it. Don’t wait. These moments are fleeting, but the memories you’ll create during our time together will last forever. And trust me, there’s nothing quite like capturing the heart of a dog who’s spent their whole life loving you.
