Doodle Pet Portraits | Gig Harbor Pet Photography

Doodle Double Trouble!

These two aren’t twins, but they might as well be! Cooper and Valkyrie joined their mom and dad on an adventure at Gold Creek Pond, and had the best time! Their parents wanted portraits of them enjoying the great outdoors, romping down a trail, and posing in front of gorgeous mountains. A pet portrait session in Snoqualmie was the solution!

Outdoor Adventure Pet Portraits

Gold Creek Pond is one of my favorite spots for outdoor adventure pet portraits. The lake viewpoint is a short 5 minute walk from the parking lot, and the mile-long trail around the lake is flat and ADA accessible. Because of this, it is super senior dog friendly, and one of my favorite places to take folks who aren’t big hikers.

This particular day, we were blessed with gorgeous views of the mountains along Snoqualmie Pass, the stunning emerald colors of Gold Creek Pond, and the last little bits of wildflowers on the trail.

Gold Creek Pond Closure

This trail is now closed in the summers for habitat restoration, which is much needed! However, the National Forest (as of May 2025) says the trail will be open to winter recreation each year from December 1-March 31. If you’re lucky in December, the road will still be open to the trailhead, making this a perfect spot for seniors and puppies. Once the snow arrives, the hike up to the trailhead is a short half mile up the closed road. Sometimes you don’t even need snowshoes!

Mountain Photoshoot for Dogs

Looking for the perfect summer spot for pet portraits now that Gold Creek is closed? I’ve found the perfect spot on the Kitsap Peninsula. Gorgeous lake, mountain views, soft sand beach for playing fetch…it’s wonderful. I only share these secret spots with clients, so reach out using the form below to get your pet portrait adventure started!
