Millie’s Snow Adventure | Gold Creek Pond

Dog-friendly Hiking Near Snoqualmie Pass

The area around Snoqualmie Pass is a dog-lovers dream! With national and state forest in the area there are so many trails to choose from regardless of the amount of hiking you want to do. Big adventures and smaller ones alike!

One of my favorite hikes in the area is Gold Creek Pond. It’s one of the most popular hikes in the region for a reason! The lake is gorgeous, the mountains are stunning and perfectly framed with evergreens and the dark teal lake, there’s an ADA-accessible trail that loops around the entire lake, and even a couple cute wooden bridges.

Gold Creek Pond is currently closed for important habitat restoration, but the Forest Service has agreed to open it up for recreation during the winter (December 1 to March 31) each year while they complete the restoration project over the next couple years. The good news is all the things before that make it a great hike? They make it a great snowshoe, too! The road closes .5 miles from the trailhead, so be prepared to hike up to the start of the trail. The road is level and gently sloping, so it’s a great spot for beginners, puppies, and senior pups who like the snow, and everyone else in between.

Millie’s Snowy Pet Portraits at Gold Creek Pond

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Millie and her mom just a couple weeks before Gold Creek Pond closed for the reset of the year, and we had the perfect day. Millie loves the snow and had her trusty Ruffwear winter coat on to keep her toasty, so we hiked up to the lake, stopping along the way to play in the snow. We had the whole place to ourselves at the top, and Millie took full advantage with sooo many zoomies followed up with snuggling her mom.

My favorite thing about being an outdoor pet photographer is getting to go on adventures with my clients. Is snowshoeing your favorite way to spend time with your dog? Great, I love the snow. Love spending your day paddling on an alpine lake? Fab, I’ll grab my SPF and jump in the water with you. Spend your free time hiking in the gorgeous PNW and want those memories preserved forever? That’s what I’m talking about! When you hire me as your adventure pet photographer, you get to create a favorite memory with your best friend, your dog gets to be their truest selves out in nature, zooming, jumping, exploring, and having the time of their lives, and then you get a full gallery of images and gorgeous custom work to enjoy those memories for the rest of your life. It’s a win-win!
