If you’ve never met a beagle, let me tell you….you’re missing out! They are the sweetest dogs filled to the absolute brim with personality.
With a recent diagnosis of heart disease, Bella’s mom wanted to capture her living her best life—rolling in the grass, sniffing the flowers, and romping among the flowers. Her spirit is stronger than her body though, so we had to come up with a plan to get beautiful outdoor portraits without being able to go to the mountains, which is Bella and her mom’s favorite place. Enter, the Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle, Washington. The Washington Park Arboretum is a free park just outside downtown Washington, filled with incredible trees, plants, and flowers that provide gorgeous views year-round. The trails are wide and gently sloped, and the best part? It’s dog-friendly!
When Bella wasn’t being a supermodel, we packed her up in my trusty “off road” cart from Costco to wheel her to our next location. She got cozy with a blanket and snacks from mom, and enjoyed smiles and pets from literally every person who passed us. We got a lot of, “Wow, you sure do love that dog!” Yep, we sure do…and I just met her!
Bella and her mom enjoyed their sunny day at the Washington Park Arboretum and I felt so lucky to capture such a sweet and special bond between a girl and her beagle.
“From the first e-mail to the Zoom meeting, Barbara was warm and receptive. She was very flexible and knew I was worried about how my senior dog could handle the time outdoors. I never felt pressured to take the perfect photo or get my dog in the perfect spot. She took every worry I had and adapted to them flawlessly. I had told Barbara that my dog tires on walks and she brought a wagon to wheel her from place to place at the Botanical Gardens so that she would not get tired! Although our session was scheduled for an hour, Barbara had so much patience, both for me and my dog and she was just easy to work with and down-to-earth. I will treasure the photos for a lifetime.”
